Oxford University Rifle Club - Shooting Club in Oxford

Oxford University Rifle Club (OURC) is a prestigious organization comprised mainly of students from the esteemed University of Oxford. The club boasts an active presence in both small-bore and full-bore shooting competitions, and also offers an extensive social calendar. OURC offers three distinct disciplines, all utilizing single-shot breech loading rifles, and predominantly shot in a prone position. The small-bore discipline entails shooting a .22 inch diameter bullet from a small-bore target rifle over a 25-yard indoor range. The full-bore disciplines, Target Rifle (TR) and Match Rifle (MR), are shot outdoors and include distances that range from a minimum of 300 yards in TR to the furthest of 1200 yards in MR, and are shot using a much larger 7.62 mm calibre round.

OURC is a discretionary full-blue club and stands as one of the oldest varsity clubs in the university. The club competes against Cambridge University Small-Bore Club (CUSBC) in small-bore varsities, and the Heslop (mixed) and Bentata (ladies) competitions, while also competing against Cambridge University Rifle Club (CURA) in full-bore varsities, the Chancellor’s (Target Rifle) and Humphry (Match Rifle) competitions, as well as various county and national leagues and competitions.
