Market Drayton Rifle Club - Shooting Club in Market Drayton

Market Drayton Rifle Club has a rich heritage dating back to 1906 when it was known as the Market Drayton Volunteer and Civilian Rifle Club. The club has been in existence in some form or another ever since and has maintained its competitive edge throughout the years. The club has moved premises several times, including the Old Brewery and the Old Grammar School Range, before eventually settling at the Maurice Chandler Sport and Leisure Centre, where it enjoys access to the range facilities five nights a week.

While the club’s early focus was on military marksmanship, its emphasis today is on the Olympic sport of competitive target shooting, with a particular focus on prone small-bore rifle, light weight sport rifle, and gallery rifle shooting at targets distanced between 20 and 100 yards. The club takes part in postal competitions, shooting targets at its club range, and competes in national and local competitions. In the winter months, the club regularly shoots over 50 competition targets each week.
