Dorking & District Rifle Club (FBR) - Shooting Club in Herongate

Dorking & District Rifle Club (FBR) holds a distinguished place among the oldest rifle clubs in Great Britain, tracing its inception back to October 22nd, 1900. With its own outdoor range, the club offers a dedicated space for full-bore rifle shooting across various distances, including 200, 300, 500, and 600 yards.

Located at Boar Hill, just a short distance of approximately 2 miles south of Dorking on the Coldharbour Road, the range serves as the backdrop for the club’s shooting activities. The club’s shooting program revolves around Club Trophies and competitions, but non-competitors are welcome to participate on competition days, with priority given to registered competitors who must complete the designated course of fire.

To enhance the shooting experience and efficiency, electronic targets are employed for most target rifle events, eliminating the need for manual markers. Dorking & District Rifle Club operates on a self-managed basis, with members actively involved in its administration and operations, promoting a culture of mutual support and collaboration.

As an affiliated member, the club maintains ties with esteemed organizations such as the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Surrey Rifle Association (SRA), and the Surrey County Small Bore Rifle Association (SCSBRA), fostering a network of connections within the shooting community.

It’s important to note that access to the range is restricted to the days specified in the club’s annual program, exclusively for the use of members. External individuals or non-members are not permitted to utilize or rent the facilities. The club’s car park and other amenities are utilized at one’s own risk, as the club and its committee assume no liability for accidents, damages, or losses incurred.

Dorking & District Rifle Club (FBR) stands as a testament to a long-standing tradition of excellence and camaraderie in rifle shooting, offering a dedicated space for members to pursue their passion and hone their skills within a supportive community.
