West Atholl Rifle Club is a premier full-bore target shooting club that caters to shooting enthusiasts specializing in Target Rifle, F Open, and FTR Classes. Committed to upholding national shooting regulations outlined in the ‘Current NRA Handbook (Bisley Bible)’ with some modifications, the club provides a dynamic shooting experience at distances ranging from 400 to 1000 yards.
Dedicated to promoting excellence and camaraderie in target shooting, West Atholl Rifle Club offers a range of classes to accommodate different preferences and skill levels. The Target Rifle Class (TR) features bolt action rifles, with the option for a magazine as a loading platform for single rounds. Shooters can choose from calibres such as .223 Remington/5.56mm NATO, .308 Winchester/7.62mm NATO, or .303 British.
Adhering to the highest standards of marksmanship, participants in the Target Rifle Class utilize aperture or open sights, ensuring precision and accuracy in every shot. A sling is employed to enhance rifle stability, while the pull of the trigger is regulated to a minimum of 1.5Kg, fostering control and consistency. The maximum weight of the rifle, including all attachments except the sling, is set at 6.5Kg. Additionally, bullet weight restrictions are in place, with .223 Rem unlimited and .308Win limited to 156 grains.
